Fall Denim Trends Under $50
By: Christian Gordun
Fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent is quoted as saying “I have often said that I wish I had invented blue jeans: the most spectacular, the most practical, the most relaxed and nonchalant. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity - all I hope for in my clothes.” And we couldn’t agree more with this sentiment.
Denim is the workhorse of the wardrobe - fashionable, functional and fabulous for almost any occasion. For Fall 2013, update your look with these five denim pieces for under $50.
DON'T MISS OUT ON OUR SPECTACULAR BACK TO SCHOOL SAVINGS
The Jacket
The denim jacket is asserting itself as this season’s statement-making “anytime” item. Pair this versatile piece with black skinny jeans and a fitted t-shirt for a casual, classic look or throw it on over a flower printed dress for a flirty, fashionable date night ensemble. Try on this Mossimo Supply Co. Longsleeve Denim Jacket from Target, which comes in assorted washes, for $34.99.
The Deconstructed
Shredded, tattered and torn gets a new spin for Fall 2013. We love the deconstructed look because it’s both laid back yet sexy, perfect for a September weekend BBQ or dressed up for a Saturday out with girlfriends. Old Navy’s Rockstar Distressed-Skinny Jeans, on sale for $35, will make the right impression.
The Skirt
We love the denim skirts we’ve been seeing this season, which vary from mini, to classic pencil silhouette, to a more demure maxi. We suggest you pair it with patterned tights and mary janes for a funky back to school look that will be the envy of your classmates. Try this Chambray Denim Skirt with a button front detail from Boden, just $40.
The Skinny
Although they’ve been in vogue for several years now, skinny jeans are still as hot as ever. Levi’s 512 Skinny Jeans (at JCPenny for $45) have a higher wasteline to hold in any tummy and a longer rise for a more comfortable fit. They’re offered in a range of jewel tones, as well as classic denim, perfect for crisp fall days and flattering for any shape.
The Shirt
Denim shirts aren’t just for cowboys anymore. Over the last year or so, we’ve seen them showing up as a fashion item for both men and women. We love a fitted style with a touch of western detailing (snap buttons, for example) to add a bit of flare. We think this denim shirt from H&M does the trick at $24.95.
