A Roller Coaster Ride of a Deal
Although you already took your annual week-long family vacation during the kids’ spring break, they’re bursting at the seams to change up the monotony of their daily summer routines, and you’re also looking for a break from it all. Here are a few last minute theme park deals that will allow you a nice long weekend or mini-vacay.
Six Flags
There are 19 Six Flags parks throughout the Northeast and Mexico, so don’t worry about having to drive hours on end to experience the fun that Six Flags has to offer. With new thrill rides, such as SUPERMAN: Escape from Krypton (the world’s first 100mph rollercoaster), and more family-friendly coasters, like Road Runner Express, your kids will be off and running the minute they enter the park. Not such a fan of the twists, turns and drops, Mom? Try Roaring Rapids, the Cyclone 500, or take in some shopping at one of the many apparel, souvenir and treat stores within Six Flags. If you wait and use your Discover Card to purchase tickets for your family at your nearest park, you’ll save 5% off the total price.
Disneyland
Dubbed "The Happiest Place on Earth," you won’t be able to hold back the smiles as you roam around the spacious 85 acres of public park hand-in-hand with your kids (If your kids want no part of that mushy showing of affection, stroll hand in hand with your husband, instead).
With 8 different themed “lands” to tour, you may get lost in the excitement of it all in New Orleans’ Square when touring the Haunted Mansion, while you daughter and son ride Star Tours, now in 3-D. With plenty of places to eat and rest your feet along the way, you may be the first to arrive at Disneyland and the last to leave, because there’s just so much to see.
Through July 31st, you can save up to 25% per person plus 2 Fastpasses on your family’s stay at a Disneyland resort, by booking your time away from home with Expedia.com.
Walt Disney World
Disney World is where dreams come true. If you’ve never been to the house of the mouse, you will have to check out classic rides, such as Space Mountain, Mad Tea Party and Tower of Terror. For those return visitors, you gotta catch the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, starring Aerosmith.
Disney World has 6 parks, including 2 water parks, each with something special to offer. The the food at Epcot can’t be beat, the animals at Animal Kingdom are amazing to observe, Magic Kingdom is where adults live out childhood dreams and Hollywood Studios will leave you feeling like a star. Make sure to devote enough time to enjoy each one!
There are two fantastic deals (that we are tempted to jump on ourselves) currently running. The first is through Priceline.com, which is offering up to 30% off your stay plus a 2 day free park ticket at a Walt Disney World Resort, through August 13th. The second comes from Travelocity.com, which wants you to save 45% on your stay at participating theme park hotels, when you book by August 2nd.
Go pretend to be a kid again, and have some fun.
